The Pack 95 summer program starts this Saturday at Ruffner Mountain Park. We will meet in the parking lot at 9:30. We will probably get started by 9:45.
Our plan is to take the Quarry Trail to either the overlook or the base of the quarry and then back. In all, 2 or 3 miles of hiking. It will be a nice excuse to get out of the house, visit a park you might never have been to and to work on your Summer Activity pin.
To earn the summertime activity pin you must attend one Pack event in each month during summer. This is the first of three opportunities in June. The others being the Vulcan District Day camp starting June 10 and a trip to Sloss Furnace on June 29.
If you attend Day camp then you have completed the biggest hurdle in earning the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award which is separate from the pin I mentioned above. Download the form and keep track. When finished turn it into the Cubmaster.
If there is a slight chance of rain then we will hike. If there is a chance of thunder or lightning we will cancel. If you are in doubt of whether the hike will take place. Watch your emails and pack95homewood.com the morning of the event.
Please bring water.
